With an all-star cast and nail-biting suspense and special effects, the series premiere of American Horror Story Wednesday, October 5 on FX should prove to be a huge success, especially for fans of the horror genre. American Horror Story follows a family of three who move to Los Angeles from Boston to escape a painful past. After Mom (played by Connie Britton) suffers a horrific miscarriage and then catches her psychiatrist husband (Dylan McDermott) cheating, they move thousands of miles away with their teenage daughter.
Unfortunately, their new life may not be as idyllic as they hoped considering their LA dream home is haunted. They bought the house at a bargain price, which probably had something to do with the fact that the previous owners died in a murder-suicide. Shortly after settling in, they see creepy visions, and so it begins. Their daughter, who suffers from the psychological disorder known in layman terms as “cutting” (self-mutilation) does not adjust well to her new school and becomes friends with one her father’s patients, a diagnosed psychopath.
Creators of the show, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, best known for Glee and Nip/Tuck, drew inspiration for American Horror Story from two of the scariest flicks of all time, Rosemary’s Baby and Don’t Look Now, both about families who face unspeakable horror involving their children. With Britton (Friday Night Lights), McDermott (The Practice), and silver screen superstar, Jessica Lange, how can this show not be a hit? You may want to make sure the kids are out of the room when you tune into the American Horror Story premiere on FX October 5 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
