It’s not often that DISH Network gets to announce a new series on HGTV (Home & Garden Television), but Sunday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. EST, a new reality show, Junk Gypsies, premieres on HGTV (DISH Network channel 112) and features designers (and sisters) Amie and Jolie Sikes as they find junk and transform it to beautify homes. You’ve heard the saying, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” and this show embodies that expression. The Junk Gypsies can find beauty and value in what most of us would consider, well…junk.
After graduating from Texas A&M University and opting to forego law school, Amie entered the retail world but found herself quickly bored with the 9-5 schedule and decided to follow her passion—doing something that would allow her to utilize her sense of style and creativity. Amie’s younger sister, Jolie, finished her master’s degree and she, too, found the day-to-day office job was not for her. The Sikes family turned to the restaurant business to pay the bills, but the adventurous young women were still missing something, so they began to explore their love of flea markets, antiques and junk. The Junk Gypsy Co was born, and the women traveled the U.S. collecting roadside junk and meeting some interesting characters along the way. They turned their love of other people’s throw-aways into a thriving design business, and HGTV is taking us along for the ride so we can see these rowdy, free-spirited young women turn trash into treasure in the Junk Gypsies premiere.
In the Gypsies’ Own Words
Here is an excerpt from the Junk Gypsy website that explains a little bit about the Junk Gypsies company, their mission and their passion:
“THE JUNK GYPSY COMPANY reveals a palette of vibrant colors, a crossroads of diverse styles, and a beautifully chaotic combination of funky vintage pieces and true-blue foot stomping home décor.
We combine chippy-peely flea market furniture and elegant chandeliers with a little bit of hippie Texas flair, some southern-fried cowgirl pride and a splash of MOULIN ROUGE eccentricity to achieve the JUNK GYPSY look. We believe in decadent junk and FUN, spirited styles coming together to create a space that defines who you are.
We believe your home should be your ESCAPE. An escape that embraces all of the diverse styles that you love …from those worn-out blue jeans to that rock n’ roll soul… throw conventional DESIGN RULES out the window, shake that hair free and live in a space that speaks of adventure, journeys, and everything that you dream of.”
We are already intrigued and can’t wait for the Junk Gypsies premiere on HGTV Sunday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. on DISH Network channel 112. HGTV is available on these DISH Network packages: America’s Top 120, America’s Top 120+, America’s Top 200, America’s Top 250 and America’s “Everything” Pak.

Great show – very entertaining, as they use a lot of the same items I buy & sell. Would love to do business with them! Or any other aspiring decorators with similar tastes – let’s talk, and deal!
Congrats on the show. Now everyone gets to see what us Texans know all about!!!
You will have the most successful series ever with the Junk Gypsies! No short skirts and some handy man doing all the work for these girls, they are real “pickers” with a passion for fun and the good sense to know what people will buy and love. On top of all that, they are truly “nice people” with sweet personalities and a down to earth nature to them they will keep your viewers coming back! We will be having a junk watching party at our house!! Oh while of course wearing out Junk Gypsy t-shirts. Congrats to the whole family!!xoxo-cindy craine
