Hopper “Transfers App” Delivers Recorded TV Programs to Your iPad

In early January of this year, DISH introduced the Hopper Transfers app, an exclusive feature of the new Hopper® with Sling™ Whole-Home HD DVR that allows DISH customers to transfer select TV programs they’ve recorded to an iPad® and watch them without having an Internet connection.

This new app, according to DISH, “completes the TV Everywhere equation by giving DISH customers the ability to take their recorded television programs and watch them even when no Internet connection is available, such as on a plane.”

Hopper Transfers AppNow, DISH customers just set up their Hopper with Sling to prepare TV recordings for mobile viewing. Via the home’s Wi-Fi connection, recordings are transferred from the Hopper to the iPad; there is a limit of one mobile transfer per recording, meaning you can only transfer a particular show to an iPad one time. Once a TV show that’s been recorded is encoded for mobile viewing, it takes about five minutes to transfer a 30-minute show from the DVR to the iPad.

Other features of the Transfers™ app:

  • Parental locks to block or limit programming
  • Ability to schedule transfers or single episodes or series
  • No cords or adapters necessary

In conjunction with the release later this month of DISH’s new Hopper® with Sling™, the Hopper Transfers™ app will be available in Apple’s App Store.
