For decades, we have been fascinated with superheroes. Long before television or movies, comic books have been read under blankets with flashlights by kids looking to find out how their favorite hero would save the day. But superheroes aren’t just for kids, and a good super hero movie all but guarantees a profit, despite high production price tags. In 2013, there is no exception. Here’s five films that were released in 2013, or have a release date right around the corner that are bound to bring all fans to the box office.

Man of Steel – Opened June 14, 2013

Over the years we’ve seen several different movies and television shows grace the screens of both movie and television screens, and yet we always seem to be ready for a new take on the story. In Man of Steel, Superman/Clark Kent/ Kal El is played by Henry Cavill and Lois Lane is played by Amy Adams. In this version, Kal El’s relatives from his home planet want him back, but Clark has built a life on earth- and a nature vs. nurture battle begins.

If you don’t have a chance to see Man of Steel in theaters, you can always catch it on your DISH Movie Channels when it comes out on DVD. With Premium channels like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz available free for three months with the most popular DISH Program packages, you’ll be able to catch the show at home before you know it. If you prefer the “old school” Superman, catch an old episode of Smallville, or even a bit of the animated series. There’s something for everyone.

Iron Man 3 – Released May 3, 2013

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark is ready to save the day once again. Robert Downey Jr. is back as the title character and takes on the terrorist villain, Mandarin, in order to protect Pepper Potts, played by Gwenyth Paltrow. If you’re not quite up to speed on previous Iron Man movies, chances are you’ll be able to jog your memory or get a firm hold on the back story by watching Iron Man, Iron Man 2, or The Avengers on DISH Movie Channels.

The Wolverine- Released July 26, 2013

Do you like a hero that thinks? You’ll find him in The Wolverine. Hugh Jackman is back to present another story of Logan/Wolverine as he heads to Japan to face an enemy from his past. With DISH movie channels, you can catch other Wolverine or X-Men movies and get a better sense of what it might be like to live life as a misunderstood mutant.

Thor: The Dark World- Release November 8, 2013

But that gives you plenty of time to catch up on Thor’s story on your DISH movie channels. Not available when it airs? No problem. Record it to the Hopper and watch when you have the chance.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox – Release July 30. 2013

Marvel and D.C. comics have been battling it out for decades, and when it comes to the movies, the battle rages on. So after seeing Marvel’s Avengers in 2012, it’s not surprising that D.C. would display their own knack for teamwork on the silver screen in 2013 – with the only animated superhero movie on the list. When The Flash finds himself in a sticky situation, other D.C. heroes come to his aid, including Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Aquaman, and The Green Lantern. Voice actors for the film include Michael B. Jordan, Nathan Fillion, Dana Delany, and Justin Chambers as The Flash.
